It’s the single most important day in your entire life. The day that, if you could, you would freeze and hold on to for dear life. If you could, you’d remember every single detail from the emotion to the smells to the sounds. That one single day that your baby is born is forever shrined in your mind and will go down as THE day that changed your life forever.
I have only photographed a handful of birth days. Each and every single one different, and completely astounding. As hard as I try, I will not be able to put in to words the emotions I feel when I have the honor of photographing this special day for my clients. It’s just that… an incredible honor. I play the role of documenting this day because as hard as we try, we just don’t always remember. We’re exhausted, we’re in pain, we’re scared out of our minds… and some things, we forget.
I think that’s why Geoff and Naomi chose to have this day documented. We had it planned months ago, before we found out that baby boy was breech. And when it was discovered, that a c-section was planned, I started plans on how to complete a story of his birth day while not being present for that moment he took his first breath, and that his mommy and daddy laid eyes on his gorgeous face for the first time. So yes, this photo story has a bit of a time lapse but I think baby’s perfect story is still told.
I have put together a quick, little slideshow only because there are too many photos for one blog post… but Geoff and Naomi are the masterminds behind Weddings in Motion and they are the slideshow experts so I will leave that up to them. Till then though, here is a peek at August 25th, 2010: The single most important day in their lives.
Congratulations Geoff and Naomi. He is perfect and brilliant and stunning.
** Pardon the quality of the video… I haven’t quite mastered how to get videos embedded in this blog yet and keep the photos looking nice and clear.
