Just have a little announcement I thought I’d post here to reach a broader audience. I have decided to rent out my studio in the evenings to select business’s here in Langley. Do you have a yoga company and don’t have a place to work out of? Or maybe you teach prenatal classes once a week? Or maybe you shoot boudoir photography and need a place where the lighting is always the same and you can count on the environment being exactly what you need?

Because babies are always at their absolute best in the mornings, I am never shooting in the studio in the afternoons/evening. Just an update that my family and I are moving tomorrow and over the next couple days, I will be offline trying to get everything set up. If you’re waiting on something from me, I promise, I haven’t forgotten about you, it’s on it’s way!!  This week has been crazy with my illness, renovations to our new home and my daughter’s birthday but I’ll be back on track asap!!

I’m looking for 3 newborns between the ages of 5 and 10 days to come to my studio on January 20th. I will be holding my first One-on-One Mentoring session and two photographers will be coming to learn newborn posing techniques. The models’ mommies will receive the complimentary session and two 11×14 prints. If you know anyone that has had a baby or will be delivering in the next few days, please have them contact me (by the form above or by email) as soon as possible!

The contest was VERY close! While the first place winner came in a good 4 minutes ahead of second place, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth all came in within 40 seconds of each other. The rest came in over the following 20 minutes and it’s now slowed down.

I just want to thank everyone for playing! It was so much fun to create it and I hope to do it again soon! So… on to the winners…. drum roll please…….

So aside from the donations I do throughout the year, I always like to do a fun blog contest around this time of year!

A little back story…. Last October, my little brother Shakeel was in a life threatening accident. He was swinging on a rope swing, lost his grip and fell into a gully about 40 feet below. He was rushed to Abbotsford Regional Hospital but didn’t ever even make it in to the ER. He was immediately air-lifted to Children’s Hospital in Vancouver where they told us to expect the worse as he had hit his head on the boulders in below and was in pretty bad shape. We didn’t know if he’d ever walk again, if he’d ever talk again, if he’d be the same boy we all loved or even if he would make it at all.

Amazingly and thanks to the heros at Children’s Hospital, Shakeel survived, escaping with one broken arm and a severe head trauma. He has had some crazy rehabing this past year… but now, he is doing so well and I’m so thankful for everyone who contributed to his recovery (especially you Shakeel… LOVE YOU!).

Last year we had a little blog contest… for every comment we got, we’d donate $1 to Vancouver Children’s Hospital.

I want to do the same this year! So let’s do it!!! For every comment I get on this post between today and November 27th, Jillian Kirby | Baby will donate $1 to the amazing facility we have downtown supporting the kids and babies of BC. I first met Roya in 2008 when she was only a few days old… “Roya the Pooper” we termed her (for obvious reasons! lol). Then in 2009 when Roya was one, the P family had me back to photograph her toddling around. Now, in 2010 I’m so pleased to come back and meet Lyla. They are both just gorgeous girls and I feel so great to be a small part of it all!

I must admit, I personally have a bit of an addiction going on… to the point where I can no longer purchase and frame prints of my children. Every image that goes on my walls is canvased.
