Little Monkey Store | Local Mompreneur Feature | Langley, BC

Well I sure have been lacking on posting my Mompreneur Features lately and it’s not for lack of wonderful companies to feature. I have a ton of great local moms doing amazing things here in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley… I just don’t have the time to feature them (I’m having a hard enough time staying on top of my sneak peeks!!). But that’s all going to change…. stay tuned for an announcement coming soon!!!!

And now on to the first feature in a while, Julie Laursen of Little Monkey Store cloth diapering. I must admit I didn’t do this with my two little ones, but looking back, I certainly wish I had. And now, it’s just so readily available, cost effective and better for the environment. Well, let’s learn about Julie!

Mama Yoga | Local Mompreneur Feature | White Rock, BC

I have been fortunate enough in my life to meet the lovely MarySue Henneberry. Not only is she an amazing person inside and out, she is also an amazing mother and yoga instructor. Her passion for birth and health and happiness just exudes off her when you meet her… and you are instantly relaxed. She has now specialized into prenatal and postnatal yoga and I honestly believe it is something you can’t miss! If you are expecting, try and get a seat with MarySue! She is just coming back off of maternity leave so her classes are limited, but give her a call… you’ll be so glad you did!!

Total Baby App | Jillian Kirby

At my lovely session yesterday, the parents to the gorgeous baby below gave me a heads up on what I think is a fantastic iPhone app! And if you know me at all, you know I’m a Mac/iPhone type of girl, so I’m passing the “heads up” on to you, my fabulous mommies and daddies to be!

Check out Total Baby. You know that sheet the nurses give you at the hospital? The one that you have to complete for every feed, every dirty diaper, etc. etc.? Well this app records it all for you! It has a timer so it’ll time your feeds for you AND it will email the report straight to your doctor/midwife!! It’s super user-friendly and beats searching for a pen every time you want to record something.

It’s $4.99 but totally worth it in my opinion… cause…. who doesn’t have their iPhone/iPod Touch right beside them at all time!?! ;)

Check it out! Total Baby App!

Ok folks, what baby friendly apps do you use?

Being Born | Birth Photography, Vancouver BC | Jillian Kirby

It’s the single most important day in your entire life. The day that, if you could, you would freeze and hold on to for dear life. If you could, you’d remember every single detail from the emotion to the smells to the sounds. That one single day that your baby is born is forever shrined in your mind and will go down as THE day that changed your life forever.

I have only photographed a handful of birth days. Each and every single one different, and completely astounding. As hard as I try, I will not be able to put in to words the emotions I feel when I have the honor of photographing this special day for my clients. It’s just that… an incredible honor. I play the role of documenting this day because as hard as we try, we just don’t always remember. We’re exhausted, we’re in pain, we’re scared out of our minds… and some things, we forget.

I think that’s why Geoff and Naomi chose to have this day documented. We had it planned months ago, before we found out that baby boy was breech. And when it was discovered, that a c-section was planned, I started plans on how to complete a story of his birth day while not being present for that moment he took his first breath, and that his mommy and daddy laid eyes on his gorgeous face for the first time. So yes, this photo story has a bit of a time lapse but I think baby’s perfect story is still told.

I have put together a quick, little slideshow only because there are too many photos for one blog post… but Geoff and Naomi are the masterminds behind Weddings in Motion and they are the slideshow experts so I will leave that up to them. Till then though, here is a peek at August 25th, 2010: The single most important day in their lives.

Congratulations Geoff and Naomi. He is perfect and brilliant and stunning.

** Pardon the quality of the video… I haven’t quite mastered how to get videos embedded in this blog yet and keep the photos looking nice and clear. :(
